Great food and nice atmosphere. Service was really nice and the dessert was so yum! Would recommend that you book if you have a bigger group as there aren't that many large tables.
The ordering tablets are convenient and make the ordering process easy. The menu offers a great variety of dishes and the food is delicious.
Food - The food is delicious. The serving size and price are proportionate. Presentation is aesthetically pleasing. By far my favourite Japanese restaurant on the Gold Coast. I try and return any chance I am in Southport. Drinks - I had to ask a couple of times for water. It would be nice if the staff placed water on the table when you arrive. Staff - Friendly staff. However, would be nice if they offered water and checked to see if our meals are okay.
Half the food pictures are also half eaten because as soon as the food came out we started demolishing a plate. The price here is quite hefty but you have you ready your wallet if you even want to step foot into Southport. Basing the review off the flavours of the food alone, the beef tataki had an outstanding flavour on top which the only noticeable vegetable was horse radish. The horse radish added a noticeable sting in the beef which subjectively provides an enhanced taste in the beef which was quite an amazing meal. The karaage chicken cheese meal ( please forgive me I forgot the name ) contained a outstanding glaze of some kind of sweet, yet spicy, sauce which paired with the cheese provided a very finished and done meal. The udon is just great, for the price of $14 that is a complete meal on it's own. The udon noodles are cooked and the variety of vegetables within this plate is outstanding. I've been here over 10 times and it took me this long to write a review about such a gem in a place.

The quality of the food really stood out everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. The staff were so friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. If you're looking for authentic Japanese cuisine on the Gold Coast, Izakaya Ichi is an absolute must-visit. We love this place and have been coming for years! The Spicy fried chicken is the absolute best - I would eat it every day if I could! The could do with some new chairs as they are looking a bit tired now.
Salmon tastes great! Very high quality The udon soup was great for the winter. Great food and good service. Amazing place for sushi if you also want to step away from the classic trains.
